“Begin at the beginning,’ the King said, very gravely, ‘and go on till you come to the end:  then stop.”

-Lewis Carroll, Chapter 12, “Alice in Wonderland”

These tiled plaques depict the “Alice in Wonderland” story by Lewis Carroll.. Each chapter has its own plaque done in bas-relief, and there are twelve chapters.

The images of the characters are basically my version with influences from the original manuscript, the Disney movie, and a new interpretation done by Alison Jay.

In researching the story, I found an interesting analysis done by Marc Edmond Jones, a member of the Sabin philosophy, which states that the whole substance of the Alice narratives is made up of the 12 great principles of Wisdom in the Philosophy of Concepts, for the solution of personal problems.  I have integrated the Jones narrative by titling each plaque with his title,  The Carroll titles are printed on an added piece lower down in the plaque.  It was fascinating to read the interpretation when remembering the story from childhood.

Each plaque is about 19 x 24”.
